This is going to sound a bit odd but when I saw this one I thought of scratch board.

You know, that all black surface that can have various colors underneath that are shown by "scratching" away at each layer?

Strange, I know.

Guess it's the little dark bits on this painting, but it has that scratched/scraped look. It makes sense if you've worked with scratch board....I think!

Anyway lovely painting!

Yes I know what you're talking about with the scratch board--I used to do an art lesson with my students with that scratch technique.
