I finished a collaboration I had put away for the longest time. My granddaughter laid the paint down, then after about a year? I came up with this.
In the spirit of April first, the daily painters came up with the theme, "out of the box"--meaning we'd create something in an entirely different way than what we're used to. Although I've created collaborations with my granddaughter, this one is a collaboration with my sister Martha--she drew and painted the bottom image--sent it to me--I then let it sit for about a year before finishing it here. Martha is working on a very large and amazing wall piece--please do check it out!
I'm back, but school is out for my granddaughter, so I may be posting only one or two paintings a week. I'll do what I can till the end of September when I'm into a regular schedule again. Here's a collaboration for all you fantasy freaks.
Time for another, collaboration! My granddaughter puts down the paint and I find the characters lurking within. The collaborations are changing as I knew they would. My granddaughter is no longer just throwing, splashing or randomly painting, but painting specific pictures. This one is of a girl--I kept her face and basic form, but found these other characters.
My model backed out today, so I painted this collaboration, where my granddaughter put down the paint and I found these creatures within. I'll try for a charcoal figure drawing tomorrow.
Here's yet another collaboration. It took awhile for these images to emerge, hence the shy beasts. Have a good weekend!
My granddaughter gave me the title for this collaboration. My parents used to square dance. The skirt and petticoat remind me of my mom's square dancing outfits. My sister Martha also wrote about my mom's square dancing skirts in her blog. Those square dancing skirts and those BIG petticoats certainly left their mark on us both!
Another collaboration. Check out the video of my granddaughter putting down the paint for this and my previous collaboration. At the end of it she says, "It's ready for some salt."
I haven't been able to paint daily--preschool is on vacation, resumes on Monday--granddaughter caught a springtime cold. I sneaked this one in after hours. I haven't worked on a collaboration in awhile, my granddaughter now puts down the paint in a different way. Pretty soon she'll be painting her own little pictures that I won't want to touch!
I missed a few days due to a bug in the family, so here's a collaboration of a family in a bug or being carried by one...what does this mean?
Half day for the preschool, so I could finish this collaboration. OK, storytellers out there, start the story and others can add to it...
Here's another one! And check out my sister's new blog site. I also have her linked now in my links for blogs under Martha Miller.
Yes, time once again for a collaboration. A part of my world is living in the land of Princesses, queens and anything sparkely, shiny, fuzzy or pink. Even as I write this my granddaughter is changing into her pink dance costume to get ready for her wedding. I'm getting to know all those fairy tales once again and once again I wonder how and where they came from--from once upon a time, a long time ago. In one of the versions of Snow White, her step mother, the evil queen not only asks the huntsman to take Snow White into the forest to kill her and bring back her heart,(which is horrible enough!), but she, the evil queen, eats the heart!!! I found myself just reading along la de da...and whoops! too late. That was a piece of information she didn't need to hear--we were sort of researching some of the older versions of all the fairytales. I thought it would be fun!
My granddaughter has an early day Thursday and Friday of this week, I finished this collaboration last night with her painting and playing by my side. Our heater isn't working and it was a cold CA night--There's frost on the ground this morning, so I curtained off the kitchen, put in a space heater and we hunkered down in the kitchen all evening. It's a tiny kitchen so it got pretty toasty. I hope to get the heater replaced today.
I had some time last night to paint this collaboration. We have family visiting and preschool is still out till January 7th, but I might be able to get a few paintings in--I'll try.
Time for another...COLLABORATION!!...(check out my previous posts). If I can't do a painting, I'll try for a collaboration where my grandchild puts down the paint and I find the images. It just figures that the day (yesterday) I submitted this blog site to the official daily painters website where it will then be juried by a group of artists for about a month or so, I end up spending the day in the hospital with my granddaughter. She bonked her head while at her preschool and I had to take her in to have the gash glued shut--yes they glued it! She's fine, but might be home again today so I may have a run of these imaginative paintings...we'll see.
My granddaughter threw the paint down (literally--she was not in the best of moods at the time) I found these characters. I've been thinking about painting some scenes from an old golden book that I loved as a child, The Blue Book of Fairy Tales illustrated by Gordon Laite. These characters look like they came from that book! I'm not sure what's going on here--feel free to interpret and leave a post--maybe between a few of you a story will evolve.
My Grandaughter got out early today, so not much time for painting, but enough time for a collaboration.
