Doll on the Floor

She sort of looks like she's seeing a blessed light, or a vision, or she wants to hug the cat. I make all my granddaughter's dolls and stuffed animals talk. If I forget to, my granddaughter reminds me, "Make it talk, Gramma." It's interesting what these toys have to say, I'm even surprised by what comes out. Each thing has its own personality, some very different from my own.

What is most beautiful to me about this piece is the interplay of light and shadow. For some reason I feel this little doll needs to be rescued from an uncertain fate... Amazing work!

She's up and now is down somewhere else, probably wearing a different dress.
