My daughter gave me this handmade broom for Christmas. It was made in Humboldt CA. I love it, I've been having fun sweeping!
I had some time last night to paint this collaboration. We have family visiting and preschool is still out till January 7th, but I might be able to get a few paintings in--I'll try.

This collaboration is a strange one, if anyone wants to come up with part of a story for this, then others can add on, go for it!
I'm in the middle of a sewing project. My mom gave me her very first sewing machine--this is an old Singer--I'm honored to have this--many--many clothes, costumes and other projects have been sewn on this machine. What stories this Singer could tell!
Another landscape painted in about the same spot as Turtle Rock, but looking southeast instead of northeast. That's a dried twig of black sage in the foreground.
Looks like they're planning their next raid.

I felt a plein-air painting calling me today--beautiful weather--I can't believe I live here--this is about a two minute walk from my house. The large rock on the hill juts out like a turtle's head. There are Indian bowls on that hill; embedded in the ground are large rocks with ground out bowls here and there. Lots of poison oak up in them-there hills!
My primary color plus green necklace. I need to fix the other end of the toggle clasp, (the end that's out of the picture)--should have fixed it instead of painting it--another time.
I had to try a spaghetti bow--I might be done with the bows--you never know. I tried painting my husband now that he can be my model, but my granddaughter who is feeling much better will not let me paint--well, she would if it took me maybe one minute--fat chance--had to stay up late after all were sleeping to do this one. I think I got some frustrations out painting the background.
It hasn't been an easy week, besides the little one getting sick, my husband had his knee operated on yesterday and our car blew a head gasket! So a collaboration is in order. I have no idea what that little hat is on the beetle's head--my guess is a nurses hat, hmmmm...I wonder why?
This morning we finally gave her a medication to help stop the vomiting and it worked! She's up and about at the moment, about to have some broth. She's kept down a few juice pops--ahh! Here's another quick painting/drawing, another restless nap.
Tuesday--still sick--her usual doctor moved--another retired--all others are booked--a trip to urgent care with a pocket full of barf bags--traffic delays and a few very long lights--bad stomach virus--no infections--back home to sleep. This is a very quick painting/drawing, she was sleeping, but restlessly. I hope tomorrow she's feeling better.
It's interesting that this image should show itself during the time the sun is traveling through the sign of Sagittarius. I understand the spewing fish, because my granddaughter is sick with a stomach virus--not that she's a fish or even a Pisces, (she is a Sagittarius!), that's just what came out--ha!--no pun intended. When I do these collaborations I really try to turn off my mind and draw what I see, even if it makes no sense or even if it is disturbing, then afterwards I see the connections to what's happening in the here and now. And how! It will be tough to post a painting each day this week. She will be home for a good part of this week, but she's not up to her part of the collaborations. So all you Sagittarius' out there, watch out for the spewing fish!
