This blog started with small daily paintings then changed to a more personal sharing of projects, events and photos. Enjoy!

Old Friends
I had to get these two together. My daughter's teapot on the left and an old ceramic bank I created many years ago--they have much in common!
I'm flying out to RI--my mom died very early this morning--I'll be back soon.
Mr. Taylor Teapot
Mr. Taylor teapot and mugs used to sit on top of our old refrigerator, you can just see his head peeking up above the collected clutter here. My daughter created this tea service back in her high school ceramic class.
Four mugs with mugs!
Mr. Taylor teapot and his little bottom faced mug pals--they are the coolest--except when holding tea that is!

Making the Change
Moving the old one out..
Rediscovering that behind our refrig is an ironing board that folds into the wall--it would be nice to be able to use it, but we live in a small house and this is the best place for the frig, (if I want to have enough counter space in the kitchen.)
We had bought a used one with the freezer on the bottom, but then I hadn't even questioned if it could fit through the door--it couldn't! We then traded with our neighbor who had just bought this one--a bit smaller--freezer on the top, but there is room for everything! We can clearly see everything at a glance--what a concept--still I miss the rotating crisper!
It's white and boxy and moans every now and then, but so nice to have a light again! My magnets are lined up at attention.
My Old Refrigerator
Too many magnets? never!
It still works, but it was starting to get drippy wet inside, the lights haven't worked for awhile, and we lacked room especially when we have big dinners with family and friends. Still I'm sad to see it go!
I loved the revolving crisper, and the star trek like insignia. But---
Time for a new one...

Chickens
These are not paintings--I'm playing with photo shop and with chickens! My son is camping and has a few chickens that needed to be let out of their pen. My granddaughter and I had fun letting the chickens pluck bits of crackers out of our hands--then we'd try to pet them--we could hardly touch one--they would come and eat crumbs right at our feet, if we even slowly put out our hand to lightly touch--they would run, hop/fly, and cluck out of the way. It became a game. I was able to very lightly touch the black and white ones twice. Patience did the same, but touched one of the RhodeIsland reds once!--this was a big deal because they were the tougher ones to touch.

Wing
A turkey vulture flying overhead.
On my walk I went right by a freshly dead bird? creature? that didn't make it through the night, and I scared away a whole flock of turkey vultures--they took to the sky in wide circles, all the way home they seemed to be circling and following me? Or perhaps it was a whole different band of vultures? I felt grateful for the vultures of the world and tried to look upon the freshly dead in a different light.

Blackbird on a Rock
A sweet little rock painted by my sister--the black is the rock showing through.

Refinished Desk
A refinished old desk for a lavender room. I don't have before and after pictures--I was working fast yesterday trying to get this apart, sanded, the medal painted and put together before the school bus dropped off my granddaughter. I should say it's partway refinished, because I just couldn't cover up or completely take off all that old paint from the former owners. I sanded to a point where I could see all the layers, yellow, blue, green, black, then got out my trusty can of Minwax and called it done. She likes it! yay! I was hurrying too, because if she had seen it all apart, she probably would have wanted me to paint it one solid color.
