Knot II

Today I shook the Fire Chief's hand. (read previous post) Painting knots makes me think about an old tradition I read about...back in the time when women had their babies at home. (I know women still do have babies at home), but this was back further in time. While the labor was happening, the family would untie any knots in and around the house, open up any closed door or gate to aid in the smooth delivery of the baby. That makes me think, what about the cattle, the livestock? Better not deliver in a big old tent like this temporary fire station that's being held up with ropes!

Knot something you see every day! (which is what I like about it.)

Sue, have you read The Shipping News? Annie Proulx has a knot from Ashley's book of knots at the start of each chapter to symbolize some relationship dynamic that's occuring in the novel. One of my favorite books.

This is another great strong painting! It has the effect of a large canvas. I love this knot series!

Thanks Don, That tent has lots of great knots, but I might have to go back during late afternoon to get the sun on the other side.

Hi Martha, I have read that book and really liked it. Knots and relationships...I was thinking about that too--like the saying, lets tie the knot and get married, and as I'm studying the knot, I'm wondering about such a tight relationship--how it's tough to leave a parnter and all the ways and thoughts and hows of relationships.
