Painting Gordon Laite's illustrations have been fun--like going back through time to my childhood, but also check out the style of dress. Look at that hat the mother has on! Or that puffy shirt/jacket--cool. As a child, this story didn't make much sense to me. I have a strong gag reflex, so hacking up diamonds, pearls and roses seemed more like a curse than a gift.SOLD
