It would just figure when I hardly have any time to paint, now that preschool is out, that I would choose to paint such a complicated subject. I've been working on this off and on. It's frustrating not to complete a painting in one sitting. I want to keep going and if I can't, which is the case lately, it's harder to get back to it. It didn't look like I would have the time to finish this today, but miracles do happen. To all you faithful viewers, please bear with me! I don't know the name of this plant, but it does flower and I love that braided or overlapping spine. This one must have been cut back or knocked off when young, so it's growing two spines.Watercolor, 7"x 7"

ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous--I love the way one leave seems to grow out of the one before it; it makes a fascinating and pleasing pattern. Your colors are stunning--I can't believe it's watercolor! I have had that same frustrating experience of having to keep going back: I usually finish in one sitting too, and seem to lose steam and conviction each time I re-approach a painting! But this painting proves to me, it can be done!
